Production Methodology

The whiskey was made the ordinary Wild Turkey way — one bourbon recipe, no. 4 char barrels, low entry strength — and then singled out by where it slept. Rickhouse A is the oldest warehouse on the property, and Eddie Russell has told the story more than once of being taken to its top floor during his first week at the distillery in 1981 and tasting straight from a barrel there. Every barrel in this release came out of that one building, and the whiskey was reduced to 90 proof for bottling. The component ages have been reported by tasters who asked the distillery directly, but Wild Turkey never printed them on the label, and published accounts do not agree.
