The whisky matures for its full twenty-three years in a combination of American oak and European oak casks, taking vanilla and gentle spice from the former and deeper fruit from the latter. It is then transferred into French cuvée casks — the wood used for the first fermentation of wine that will go on to become Champagne — for a finishing period. Glenfiddich matures and marries on site at Dufftown, where the distillery has stayed in the Grant family since 1887. Bottling strength is 40% ABV.
