The Macallan matured it in predominantly European oak sherry-seasoned casks on The Macallan Estate, then married it in a selection of the first 200 casks seasoned with its own Valdespino sherry in Jerez de la Frontera. It is the first Macallan shaped by those casks since Edrington, the distillery's owner, took a 50% stake in Valdespino's parent company, Grupo Estévez, in March 2023.

Production Methodology

The Macallan has been licensed to distil since 1824 on the Easter Elchies estate at Craigellachie, Speyside. TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask spent its full maturation in predominantly European oak sherry-seasoned casks on the estate, then a marrying period in a selection of the first 200 casks seasoned with Valdespino sherry. The Macallan puts the share of flavour its whiskies take from sherry seasoning at up to 80 percent and attributes all of their natural colour to it. Bottled at 44.8% ABV without added caramel.
