Fleur de Miraval ER3 is the third numbered edition of Exclusivement Rosé, the rosé Champagne made in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger by the house that Brad Pitt, the Perrin family and Rodolphe Péters founded. A quarter of the blend is 2018 Pinot Noir from Vertus; the other three quarters are Côte des Blancs Chardonnay, drawn from a perpetual reserve reaching back to 2007 and from Blanc de Blancs bottles of 2000 and 2009 opened by hand, for thirteen vintages in all.

Nº 01

The Elemental Distinction

01

The third edition. ER stands for Exclusivement Rosé. Each edition carries a number rather than a vintage year, and ER3 was released in 2023.

02

Thirteen vintages. The youngest wine in ER3 is the 2018 Pinot Noir and the oldest is the 2000 Blanc de Blancs; reserve wines make up 75% of the blend.

03

One method, five editions. Pinot Noir infusion rosé 25%, perpetual reserve Chardonnay 50%, reopened Blanc de Blancs 25%: the same proportions run through every edition from ER1 to ER5.

04

Grand Cru and Premier Cru. The perpetual reserve is Grand Cru Chardonnay; the Pinot Noir comes from Vertus, a Premier Cru village.

05

Three years on lees. ER3 rests at least three years on its lees and is finished with a dosage under 6 g/L.

Nº 02

Pitt, Perrin and Péters

A house for rosé alone

The Pitt and Perrin families, who introduced Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé in 2012, joined the Péters family, six generations in Champagne, to found Fleur de Miraval: its founders are Brad Pitt, the Perrin family and Rodolphe Péters of Champagne Pierre Péters. The project began in 2015 on the Pierre Péters estate in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, the Côte des Blancs village where the wine is produced, and Rodolphe Péters is the house's winemaker. The house makes rosé Champagne only: the numbered Exclusivement Rosé editions, the first of which went on sale in October 2020, and Petite Fleur, introduced in 2023.

Sensory Profile & Strategy

House note & position
I

Sensory Profile

Fleur de Miraval's note for ER3 describes a very pale, blush-pink Champagne with a fine, delicate bead. White flowers, redcurrant and wild strawberry come first on the nose, followed by a light smokiness; the palate is fresh, its white fruit and citrus moving on to candied fruit, gentle spice and toasted almond, and the finish is long, with a chalky mineral line.

II

Strategic Position

Against its neighbours, ER3 is built on 2018 Pinot Noir where ER2 used 2017 and ER4 used 2019, and its 2000 Blanc de Blancs reaches further back than any reopened bottle in ER1, ER2 or ER4; of the five editions through ER5, only the 1998 in ER5 is older. Its Chardonnay is Côte des Blancs grand cru, as is every grape in Taittinger's Comtes de Champagne 2013, a grand cru blanc de blancs, which shows that Chardonnay with no Pinot Noir beside it.

Records & Assurance

Production Methodology

The three parts age apart until they are blended: the Pinot Noir from Vertus is macerated gently in tank, the perpetual reserve Chardonnay rests in foudres, concrete and tank, and the 2000 and 2009 Blanc de Blancs bottles stay on their lees until they are opened by hand, one by one. ER3 then spends at least three years on its lees, and its dosage is kept under 6 g/L.

Authentication & Vault Preservation

Every bottle sold through Midnight Whiskey is sourced as an authentic, sealed product and inspected before it ships. Orders are packed with padded, glass-rated handling and require an adult signature (21+) on delivery; we do not ship to anyone unable to verify legal drinking age. Frequently Asked Questions

What does ER stand for in Fleur de Miraval ER3?

ER stands for Exclusivement Rosé, French for exclusively rosé, and the number marks the edition: Fleur de Miraval ER3 is the third. Every ER edition blends 25% Vertus Pinot Noir, 50% Chardonnay from a perpetual reserve and 25% Blanc de Blancs from reopened bottles; in ER3 those wines span 13 vintages, from 2000 to 2018.

Who makes Fleur de Miraval ER3?

Champagne Fleur de Miraval makes ER3 in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the Côte des Blancs. The house was founded by Brad Pitt, the Perrin family and Rodolphe Péters of Champagne Pierre Péters, and Rodolphe Péters is its winemaker.

How is Fleur de Miraval ER3 different from ER2 and ER4?

The editions differ in the vintages they use. Fleur de Miraval ER3 is built on 2018 Pinot Noir, a perpetual reserve running from 2017 back to 2007 and reopened Blanc de Blancs bottles from 2000 and 2009; ER2 used 2017 Pinot Noir with 2004 and 2006 bottles, and ER4 used 2019 Pinot Noir with 2007 and 2012 bottles. ER3 was bottled in 75 cl only, while ER4 is also listed in 150 cl.

What is the remise en cercle in Fleur de Miraval ER3?

Remise en cercle is the name Fleur de Miraval gives to the quarter of each blend that comes from vintage Blanc de Blancs bottles, kept on their lees and opened one by one by hand. In ER3 those bottles are from 2000 and 2009, and their wine joins 2018 Vertus Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the house's perpetual reserve.
