Wild Turkey Master's Keep Revival is Kentucky straight bourbon aged 12 to 15 years and then finished in Oloroso sherry casks at least 20 years old, which Eddie Russell selected in person in Jerez, Spain. It was released in June 2018 at 101 proof (50.5% ABV) as the third Master's Keep expression sold in the United States, in a run of roughly 1,600 cases, and it revives a sherry-influenced Wild Turkey bourbon his father Jimmy had bottled years earlier.

Nº 01

The Elemental Distinction

01

Bourbon aged 12 to 15 years in new charred oak, then finished in Oloroso sherry casks aged at least 20 years.

02

The finishing casks were hand-picked by Eddie Russell on a trip to the Jerez sherry region in Spain.

03

Bottled at 101 proof (50.5% ABV) — the iconic strength Wild Turkey has relied on for decades.

04

Released nationally in June 2018 as the third Master's Keep expression sold in the United States, in a limited run of ~1,600 cases.

05

Built as an homage to a historic sherry-influenced Wild Turkey bourbon that Jimmy Russell introduced years earlier.

Nº 02

Wild Turkey & Jerez Sherry Heritage

Spanish Oloroso Cask Finishing

Distilled at Wild Turkey Distilling Co. along the Kentucky River in Lawrenceburg, Master's Keep Revival blends American whiskey heritage with Andalusian coopering. Master Distiller Eddie Russell personally selected 20-year-old Oloroso butts in Jerez, Spain, imparting dark stone fruit, toasted nut, and raisin complexity onto mature 12-to-15-year bourbon.

Nº 03

Craftsmanship & Cask Architecture

20-Year Oloroso Sherry Finish
12–15 Year Bourbon Base

No. 4 Char American Oak

Aged 12 to 15 years in deep alligator-char American white oak, building robust vanilla and spicy timber notes.

Jerez Oloroso Casks

20-Year Spanish Sherry Wood

Finished in authentic Spanish Oloroso casks, infusing heavy notes of baked cherry, raisin, and candied citrus peel.

Limited Case Production

1,600 Case Small Batch

Limited to roughly 1,600 cases globally due to the scarcity of vintage 20-year Oloroso sherry butts.

101 Proof Precision

Landmark Bottling Proof

Bottled at Wild Turkey's signature 101 proof (50.5% ABV), allowing sherry richness and house spice to balance perfectly.

Sensory Profile & Strategy

Master Distiller Tasting Notes
I

Sensory Profile

Nose: Baked cherry and raisin lead, with citrus peel, shelled nuts, and a light oak edge behind them.
Palate: Creamy and gently spiced, ripe tropical fruit sitting on top of the sherry cask's dried-fruit weight.
Finish: Long, on dried apricot and honey, with the rye spice fading last.

II

Strategic Position

Finished bourbon from a major Kentucky distillery was still unusual in 2018, and this is the release that put Wild Turkey in that conversation with genuinely old casks rather than young wood. It sits directly before the first rye in the Master's Keep run and beside the Rickhouse A bottling made for Australia in the Master's Keep archive at Midnight Whiskey.

Vault Provenance

Limited Cask Sourcing

The 20-year Oloroso butts used for Revival were a finite one-time acquisition, making this one of the most distinct process-driven releases in the collection.

Master's Keep Sequence Context

Production Methodology

The base whiskey is ordinary Wild Turkey bourbon left alone for 12 to 15 years in new charred oak, which is where nearly all of its structure comes from. The finishing period is the intervention: casks that had held Oloroso for at least two decades, chosen by Eddie Russell in the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry region and shipped to Lawrenceburg, then filled with mature bourbon and left long enough to take on dried fruit without losing the grain underneath. Nothing was blended in — the sherry character here comes from wood contact, unlike the earlier Wild Turkey bottling that inspired it. The result went into the bottle at 101 proof.

Authentication & Vault Preservation

Every bottle sold through Midnight Whiskey is sourced as an authentic, sealed product and inspected before it ships. Orders are packed with padded, glass-rated handling and require an adult signature (21+) on delivery; we do not ship to anyone unable to verify legal drinking age.
