Jack Daniel's announced Batch 2 of its 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey in Lynchburg on 5 February 2024, together with Batch 3 of the 10-Year-Old, and released it across the United States that month. At 107 proof (53.5% ABV), it shares the 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye grain bill of classic Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey, and its barrels started on the upper floors of the barrelhouse before moving down to the lower ricks.

Classic recipe, stated. Jack Daniel's says Batch 2 shares the grain bill of its classic Tennessee Whiskey: 80% corn, 12% malted barley, 8% rye.

Named notes. Pipe tobacco, oak and butterscotch are the predominant notes the distillery gives for this batch.

Paired release. Announced with the 10-Year-Old Batch 3, at 97 proof, on 5 February 2024.

Jack Daniel's 2024 announcement states that Batch 2 was charcoal mellowed; Tennessee whiskey law places that filtering before aging.

Stage one

Upper floors

New, toasted and charred American white oak barrels began their maturation on the upper floors of the barrelhouse.

Stage two

Lower ricks

The barrels then moved to the lower ricks, a relocation Jack Daniel's says extends the maturation.

Sensory Profile

Jack Daniel's names pipe tobacco, oak and butterscotch as the predominant notes of the 12-Year-Old Batch 2. In the same announcement the distillery said Aged Series batches differ slightly from one to the next, with oak, butterscotch and tobacco running through each whiskey.

Strategic Position

Batch 2's release described the barrelhouse route. On the twelve-year line the batch falls between the twelve-year debut of March 2023 and the third twelve-year batch, from February 2025, and it was announced alongside the ten-year sibling from the 2024 announcement.
