Whisky maker Steven Bremner chose five cask types of American and European sherry-seasoned oak, each named for a story of the river, working with the fly-fishing house Hardy, The Macallan's Ghillie Robert Mitchell and the Atlantic Salmon Trust. Nose: Chocolate and rich fresh fruit first, then a spiced base of nutmeg and ginger under oak.
Palate: Plum and sweet orange with cinnamon, toffee, and a distinct note of oats.
Finish: Medium to long, closing cleanly on spiced oak and lingering fruit.

Strategic Position

Series finales carry the weight of the whole run, and this one closes a six-year argument about disclosure with its most local subject: the river outside the warehouse windows. It follows the Pantone Edition before the finale as the top of the ladder and the end of the line, within the Macallan single malts held in the Midnight vault.
