Wild Turkey Master's Keep Bottled in Bond is a 17-year Kentucky straight bourbon released in June 2020 as the fifth entry in the series. It is one of only two bonded bourbons Wild Turkey has ever made — the first was American Spirit in 2007 — which means it comes from a single distilling season at one distillery, aged in a federally bonded warehouse and bottled at exactly 100 proof (50% ABV). The barrels came from the distillery's Camp Nelson rickhouses, in a run of about 14,400 bottles.

Nº 01

The Elemental Distinction

01

Seventeen years old and bottled at exactly 100 proof (50% ABV), meeting the strict legal criteria of the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897.

02

Only the second bonded bourbon in Wild Turkey's history, following the 15-year American Spirit release of 2007.

03

Matured in the historic Camp Nelson rickhouses in Jessamine County, a site famous for producing concentrated, oak-driven Wild Turkey stocks.

04

Bonded rules require one distilling season, one distillery, and a federally bonded warehouse—offering single-season vintage purity.

05

Released nationally in June 2020 in a limited batch allocation of approximately 14,400 bottles.

Nº 02

Wild Turkey & Camp Nelson Heritage

Historic Bonded Craftsmanship

Distilled at Wild Turkey Distilling Co. in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Master's Keep Bottled in Bond represents rare alignment between age and legal proof structure. Master Distiller Eddie Russell selected barrels distilled in a single season and aged for seventeen years inside Camp Nelson rickhouses, yielding unmatched depth and refined balance.

Sensory Profile & Strategy

Master Distiller Tasting Notes
I

Sensory Profile

Nose: Caramel, dry oak, and saddle leather, dense with the musty note that long-aged Wild Turkey carries.
Palate: Vanilla, honey, and toffee, then black cherry and tobacco as the oak asserts itself.
Finish: Long and dark — mocha, woodsmoke, and lingering spice.

II

Strategic Position

This is the release that answered the complaint about the 2015 seventeen-year that opened the series: the same seventeen years, but from conventional warehousing and at a strength that carries. Coming directly after the 109-proof Cornerstone rye, it anchors the Master's Keep collection at Midnight Whiskey.

Collector Note & Index

Vault Provenance

Rare Bonded Heritage

As only the second bonded bourbon in Wild Turkey history, this bottling represents a rare intersection of 17-year maturity and strict 100-proof legal parameters.

Master's Keep Sequence Context

Follows Cornerstone Rye (2019) and precedes Master's Keep One (2021) in the release timeline.

Evaluated strictly on verified liquid specifications, physical inspects, and primary distillery disclosures.

Production Methodology

Bonded whiskey is a legal category before it is a flavour one: everything in the bottle has to come from one distilling season at a single distillery, spend at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and leave it at exactly 100 proof. Wild Turkey took that four-year floor and left the barrels for seventeen, in the Camp Nelson rickhouses across the river from the main plant. Because the strength is fixed by the designation, the blending work happened in barrel selection rather than at the proofing tank — Eddie Russell picked a season's worth of mature barrels that could stand being brought to 100 without thinning out.

Authentication & Vault Preservation

Every bottle sold through Midnight Whiskey is sourced as an authentic, sealed product and inspected before it ships. Orders are packed with padded, glass-rated handling and require an adult signature (21+) on delivery; we do not ship to anyone unable to verify legal drinking age. For our full sourcing and handling protocols, see our editorial and authentication standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does bottled in bond mean on Wild Turkey Master's Keep?

Bottled in bond is a federal designation: the whiskey must come from one distilling season at a single distillery, be aged at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and be bottled at exactly 100 proof. Wild Turkey's Master's Keep Bottled in Bond meets that standard at seventeen years.

How old is Wild Turkey Master's Keep Bottled in Bond?

It carries a 17-year age statement, matching the age of the 2015 release that opened the Master's Keep series. The barrels for this one were matured in Wild Turkey's Camp Nelson rickhouses.

Has Wild Turkey made other bottled-in-bond whiskey?

Only once before. Wild Turkey released American Spirit, a 15-year bonded bourbon, in 2007, which makes the 2020 Master's Keep the second bonded bourbon in the distillery's history.
