The 2017 Eagle Rare 17 was distilled in the spring of 2000 at DSP-KY-113 in Frankfort, Kentucky. Milled through a #10 screen, cooked at 240°F with reverse-osmosis limestone water, and sour-mash fermented in carbon steel. Double distilled through a beer still and doubler to 135 proof, then barreled at 125 proof in Independent Stave #4 charred white oak. Aged on floors 1–3 of Warehouses C, K, and P for 17 years and 3 months with an 89.5% evaporation loss before chill filtration and bottling at 90 proof.
