Russell's Reserve 13 Year Old returned in 2025 after a year without a release, batched to 123.8 proof (61.9% ABV) from a small batch of barrels Eddie Russell and his team selected, and bottled in Spring 2025. Announced from Lawrenceburg on June 16, 2025, it was the first 13 Year to name its production season on the label, and Russell's Reserve said each later batch would carry its own proof and season too.

123.8 proof. The Spring 2025 batch sits nine proof points above the 114.8 at which Russell's Reserve batched the 13 Year from 2021 to 2023.

Season on the label. With this release the 13 Year label began naming its production season, and each batch now carries a proof of its own.

From its June 2021 introduction to its third annual release in 2023, the 13 Year Old held one strength, 114.8 proof — the run described on the 114.8-proof releases of 2021 to 2023. For its 2025 return Russell's Reserve set no fixed figure, saying it ties the line to neither a calendar nor a set specification, and this batch came out of the barrels at 123.8.

Russell's Reserve's notes for the Spring 2025 batch open on vanilla, caramel and brown sugar, then cherry, clove, nutmeg and what the distillery calls its signature dusty funk; the palate moves from cola, molasses and dark fruit to fruit cobbler and butter cream, and the long finish brings mature oak, char, deep oak spice and a hint of black pepper.

Its 123.8 proof puts the 2025 batch above both neighbors in the 13 Year line — the 114.8 of 2021 to 2023 and the Spring 2026 release at 121.2 proof, which honored Eddie Russell's 45 years with the company. Wild Turkey's rickhouses matured the barrels for the Spring 2025 batch before Eddie Russell and his team selected and blended them, batching the whiskey at the proof the barrels gave, 123.8. As with every release of the 13 Year Old, no chill filtration was used.
