Batch 25D is built on Buffalo Trace's Mash Bill #1, the distillery's low-rye recipe, which also underpins Eagle Rare and George T. Stagg. Buffalo Trace does not publish the grain percentages for it, and the low-rye character is worth naming plainly because several retail listings describe Stagg as high-rye, which it is not. The whiskey matures in new charred American oak in the Frankfort rickhouses and is bottled straight from the barrel, uncut and without chill filtration, so the oils and esters that carry texture stay in the bottle — that is where the thick mouthfeel at this strength comes from. No age statement appears on the Stagg label.

Stagg Batch 25D is bottled at 129.2 proof, or 64.6% ABV, uncut and unfiltered. That places it above the 125.6-proof Batch 25C that preceded it, and it is the strength printed on the label rather than a target the distillery aims for — every Stagg batch is bottled at whatever its barrels give.

When was Stagg 25D released?

Stagg Batch 25D was the fourth and final batch of Buffalo Trace's 2025 calendar, closing the year before Batch 26A arrived in spring 2026. Buffalo Trace released four Stagg batches in both 2024 and 2025, each identified by the two-digit year plus a letter.
