One barrel per bottle. Michter's sells the 10 Year as a single barrel whiskey, and the neck label gives the number of the barrel each bottle came from.

A constant 94.4 proof. Whatever the barrel, the bottling strength stays at 94.4 proof (47.2% ABV); barrels differ, the proof does not.

Ten years as a floor. Michter's says the 10 Year often holds whiskey well past its stated age, as do the other whiskeys in its Limited Production group.

Judged barrel by barrel. For the 2026 release Master Distiller Dan McKee explained that barrels resting side by side do not necessarily age alike, so Michter's holds the bourbon past ten years and picks barrels only once fully matured.

New charred oak, American corn. The bourbon matures in fire-charred new American white oak; its back label cites American corn, a hand-selected charred white oak barrel and Michter's signature filtration.

Sensory Profile

Dark toffee and caramel, charred oak, maple syrup and vanilla make up Michter's note for the 10 Year. Presenting the 2026 release, Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson called it rich and complex, and made the case that a bourbon does not need a high proof to carry that much flavor.

Strategic Position
