Chris Morris, Brown-Forman's Master Distiller Emeritus, picked all 63 barrels for the 2025 King of Kentucky himself, from the fourth floor of Warehouse J and the first floor of Warehouse G at the Brown-Forman Distillery. Bottled barrel by barrel at full strength, the release is a 17-year-old single-barrel Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey from two 2007 production dates, announced on October 1, 2025, with a yield of about 5,000 bottles.

Nº 01

The Elemental Distinction

01

Seventeen years. Aged 17 Years is printed in the middle box of the front label, the age Brown-Forman gave for the release.

02

Morris's own selection. Master Distiller Emeritus Chris Morris chose every barrel himself.

03

Fourth floor, first floor. Morris drew from two floors in two warehouses: the fourth of Warehouse J and the first of Warehouse G.

04

2007 distillate. Two production dates in 2007 supplied the whiskey, the distillation year of the 16-year-old 2024 release as well.

05

The eighth year. Brown-Forman described 2025 as King of Kentucky's eighth year; the brand works to no fixed yearly volume.

Nº 02

Chosen by Chris Morris

Master Distiller Emeritus

Chris Morris was Brown-Forman's Master Distiller when the 2024 King of Kentucky was announced and carried the Emeritus title by October 2025, when the company credited him with personally selecting all 63 barrels for this release. The run on either side frames it: the 16-year-old 2024 bottling from Warehouses G and J came a year earlier, and the 14-year-old 2026 release followed from Warehouses I and L.

Sensory Profile & Strategy

Distiller notes & position
I

Sensory Profile

Chris Morris, who chose every barrel, described the 2025 King of Kentucky as a bold, robust bourbon. Brown-Forman bottles each barrel separately at its own strength, and the brand notes that proof and character change from one barrel to the next, so the alcohol by volume on a bottle's front label is that barrel's own.

II

Strategic Position

Brown-Forman put the 2025 selection in one person's hands: Chris Morris chose all 63 barrels himself, from two floors in two warehouses. Announced as the brand's eighth year, the release sits one year above the 16-year-old 2024 bottling and three above the 14-year-old 2026 release.
