Matured on the lower floors of rick warehouses, this bottling carries the extra-aged profile of Buffalo Trace's low-rye mash bill. It is one of the 2024 Antique Collection five-bottle set, the last release before the collection grew to six.

Strategic Position

This is the release that followed the nineteen-year 2023 bottling and preceded the 2025 release that carried the same spring-2007 stock a year further. Within its own set it is the counterweight to the unfiltered Stagg from that same fall release: one chill filtered at a fixed 101 proof, the other uncut straight off the barrel.

Buffalo Trace's batch record for this release is unusually complete. The mash is the distillery's rye mash bill #1 — Kentucky corn with plump rye and distillers malted barley — cooked at 240 degrees Fahrenheit on Kentucky limestone water treated by reverse osmosis, fermented in stainless steel on a sour mash. It was double distilled through a beer still and doubler, coming off at 140 proof, then filled at 125 proof into new white oak barrels with a number four char burned for 55 seconds. The barrels rested on the lower floors of rick warehouses for 17 years and 4 months and gave up 86.0% of their contents to evaporation. Unlike the barrel-proof bottles in the same collection, this one was chill filtered before it was bottled at 101 proof.
