What ABV is Macallan Harmony Amber Meadow?
44.2% ABV. Some retail listings give 44.3%, which is incorrect — Macallan's own press materials and the trade coverage at launch both state 44.2%. Its travel-retail counterpart, Green Meadow, was bottled at 40.2%.
What casks was Amber Meadow matured in?
A combination of sherry-seasoned oak and bourbon casks. That makes it the first release in the Harmony Collection to use ex-bourbon wood, which is a notable departure for Macallan — the distillery's house identity rests on sherry-seasoned casks commissioned and seasoned to its own specification in Jerez. The vanilla and coconut notes on the nose come from the bourbon component.
Who are Stella and Mary McCartney and what did they contribute?
They are the fashion designer and the photographer and filmmaker respectively, both daughters of Paul McCartney, and Amber Meadow marked their first joint venture. Mary McCartney's photography of The Macallan Estate appears on the presentation box, and the collaboration drew on the sisters' memories of summers at their family farm in the Scottish countryside. The packaging itself was made from discarded meadow cuttings.
