Barrels from one floor — the fifth of seven in Camp Nelson E — make up Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson E, a non-chill filtered bourbon bottled at 128 barrel proof (64% ABV) as the 2025 release of the Single Rickhouse Collection. The rickhouse stands at the edge of Wild Turkey's Camp Nelson property, nearer the Kentucky River than its other rickhouses, and the release went on sale on October 15, 2025.

Nº 01

The Elemental Distinction

01

One floor. Only fifth-floor barrels went into the batch; Russell's Reserve says the cooler air there slows the whiskey's development.

02

Shade and river air. The rickhouse runs north to south along the Kentucky River, sits deep among trees and has a dirt-floor basement level, conditions Russell's Reserve credits with keeping it cool.

03

128 barrel proof. Its 128 proof tops Camp Nelson C's 112.4 of 2022 and Camp Nelson B's 120.2 of 2024.

04

No chill filtering. Russell's Reserve says skipping it preserves the whiskey's full character.

05

The fourth release. Camp Nelson E is the fourth bottling of the Single Rickhouse Collection, which began with Camp Nelson C in 2022.

Nº 02

Camp Nelson E

A cooler rickhouse

Russell's Reserve describes Camp Nelson E as a seven-story rickhouse set deep among the trees at the edge of the Camp Nelson property. Running north to south along the river, it catches different winds off the water and steadier shade through the year — a contrast the brand draws with the higher, sunnier ground of Camp Nelson B, the 2024 release.

Sensory Profile & Strategy

Distiller notes & position
I

Sensory Profile

On the nose, Russell's Reserve finds vanilla, caramel and maple moving to figs, dried orange peel, cola and toasted oak in Camp Nelson E; dried fruit, cherry and mint, then graham cracker and nutmeg, on the palate; and a warm, long finish of molasses, oak and black pepper. Eddie Russell points to a balance of dark fruit, baking spice and rich oak in the fifth-floor barrels.

II

Strategic Position

Proof is where Camp Nelson E stands apart in the series: 128, against 112.4 for Camp Nelson C, the inaugural 2022 bottling, and 117.6 to 120.8 for the F, B and D releases of 2023, 2024 and 2026.

Production Methodology

For the 2025 release Eddie Russell and his team turned to Camp Nelson E and took barrels only from its fifth floor, where the cooler air allows slower development. Bottling followed at 128 barrel proof, and chill filtration was skipped.
