Buffalo Trace mills this rye through a #10 screen, cooks at 240 degrees Fahrenheit on Kentucky limestone water treated by reverse osmosis, and ferments a sour mash in carbon steel. Distillation runs through a beer still and doubler, coming off at 135 proof and entering new white oak at 125. The barrels are #4 char, charred for 55 seconds, built by Independent Stave in Lebanon, Kentucky, at 53 liquid gallons. The batch then rested on floors 2 and 3 of Warehouses O, K and L for 18 years and 5 months before chill filtration and bottling at 90 proof.
